Initial results from our survey

Part of this blog initiative is a short survey. We ask what people think are the top-5 challenges facing South Africa and what they believe the National dialogue will achieve. We have received 49 responses thus far and want to share it (and hopefully more people will participate).

The majority of the respondents did hear about the National Dialogue before. We have 60% male respondents and 35% female and another 5% who preferred not to identify. We have a fair distribution across the generations. We have 32% Boomers, 21% Gen X, 19% Millennials, and 25% Gen Z’s.

As the graph below shows, unemployment, crime, corruption, education, and poverty are seen as the top-5 challenges facing South Africa. Unfortunately, the majority of respondents did not believe that the National Dialogue will achieve much. Some hope for more analysis of our challenges, and some for an update to the National Development plan.

This survey is still open if you want to make your voice heard.

Corruption, poor education & BBB lead to unemployment.

The Climate Catastrophe should have been in your survey.

The Constitution and some legislation must be reviewed. Especially the criminal justice system.
